David Gale (Kevin Spacey) is a professor who works at the University of Texas and also an activist against the death penalty. Until, after the murder of a co-worker, Gale is unjustly accused and sentenced to the penalty against which he fights so much. The case calls the attention of Elizabeth Bloom (Kate Winslet), a journalist who decides to investigate the life of Gale and also the judicial system that sentenced him to death.
