Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg) is the charismatic leader of the group of illusionists called The Four Horsemen. What few know is that, while enchanting the public with their magic under the stage, the group also robs banks on another continent and, on top of that, distributes the stolen amount in the spectators' own accounts. These crimes make FBI agent Dylan Hobbs (Mark Ruffalo) determined to capture them anyway, especially after the group announces that it will soon make its most audacious assault. To this end, he has the help of Alma Vargas (Melanie Laurent), a detective from Interpol, and also Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman), a veteran demystifying magician who insists that the assaults are carried out through disguises and games involving videos.
