Alicia (Julianna Margulies) experiences public humiliation when her husband, attorney Peter Florrick (Chris Noth), is involved in a sexual and political scandal. After Peter's arrest, she needs to leave her housewife life to support her children, Grace (Makenzie Vega) and Zach (Graham Phillips). Alicia gets a job at the law firm of Will Gardner (Josh Charles), a former university colleague, but will soon face competition with young lawyers, like the ambitious Cary Agos (Matt Czuchry).
