Travis Bickle (Robert DeNiro) is a young Vietnam veteran who returns to the streets of New York working as a taxi driver. Knowing all the rottenness of the city's alleys better, his path intersects with that of the young Betsy (Cybill Sheperd) and Iris (Jodie Foster), a prostitute of only 12 years old, which makes him revolt with everything and everyone, exploding his anger and violence that he has always shown himself to have.
