Winchester. Shaun (Simon Pegg) works as a salesman and shares a house with Ed (Nick Frost), his best friend, and Pete (Peter Serafinowicz). He usually goes to the local pub, but Liz (Kate Ashfield), his girlfriend, is tired of it. In addition to this she always complains that he does not separate from Ed, despite his silly jokes and his disinterest in doing something useful. To resolve the issue Shaun agrees to make an appointment with Liz at another restaurant, but forgets to make the reservation. Annoyed, she decides to break up with him. Shaun, devastated, gets drunk in his favorite pub next to Ed, without noticing that the people around him are becoming zombies, due to a strange phenomenon.
