During the Prussian army's invasion of Poland in 1793, the young political prisoner – Jakub – is saved by a mysterious stranger. Following this stranger across the country and back to his home, Jakub is exposed to chaos, a world of moral corruption, treachery, barbarism and murder. He witnesses surreal scenes of ultraviolence and insanity. Gradually, his dementia turns him into a cold killer, until, in the end, the mysterious stranger reveals his secret purpose.
