After being on the verge of death, for being shot, a stranger (Matt Damon) wakes up without memory on a Mediterranean Sea coast. He manages to recover, with the help of a retired doctor, but his only clue to his identity is a chip that was implanted in his hip, where the account number of a bank in Zurich, Switzerland was engraved. In the vault of this Swiss bank he finds out that his name is Jason Bourne and that he lives in Paris, but he also finds some fake passports (with his photograph, but each with a different name), a gun and a large sum of money. However, he is soon pursued, without understanding why, and demonstrates several skills in self-defense and fighting, in addition to knowing several languages. He offers $ 20,000 to Marie Helena Kreutz (Franka Potente), who is struggling financially, to take him to Paris. After reluctance she agrees, because she needs the money.
