Mitsuru Adachi's Cross Game, tells the story of Kou Kitamura and his four neighbors, the Tsukishima sisters, especially Wakaba and Aoba. The Kou family owns a sporting goods store and the Tsukishima family has a cafeteria with a hitting center. Wakaba (one of the Tsukishima sisters) and Kou were born on the same day and in the same hospital and have been friends since childhood. Wakaba treats Kou as her boyfriend, much to Aoba's disdain, who is quite jealous due to her adoration for her older sister, thus nurturing a certain hatred for Kou. But when a twist of fate occurs, their lives are completely changed, and so Kou gains a new dream: to go to Koshien.
