Jack (Edward Norton) is a young executive, works as an insurance investigator, lives comfortably, but he is becoming increasingly dissatisfied with his mediocre life. To make matters worse he is facing a terrible crisis of insomnia, until he finds an unusual cure for his lack of sleep while attending self-help groups. In these meetings he starts to live with problematic people like addict Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter) and to meet strangers like Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt). Mysterious and full of ideas, Tyler introduces Jack to a secret group that meets to vent his anxieties and tensions through violent bodily battles.
