Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is an ambitious young loan broker in Los Angeles. In the company of her boyfriend, charming professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long), Christine seems to lead a peaceful life. That is until the day when she receives a visit from the mysterious lady Ganush (Lorna Raver), who arrives at the bank where Christine works to request an increase in the loan and be able to pay her home. By denying the request, which was intended only to impress the boss, Mr. Jacks (David Paymer), Christine ends up disgracing Mrs. Ganush's life. The elderly woman is expropriated, but after that she will put the life of young Christine in the face of a supernatural and desperate curse.
