Paul Kersey lives in New York, a peaceful man whose life is shattered when three criminals invade his apartment, rape his daughter, who is in a very serious condition, and kill Joanna, his wife. After a trip to an Arizona city, where everyone is armed and crime is minimal, Kersey decides to eliminate anyone who threatens him, as the police are unable to find the culprits. So Kersey takes up arms and starts patrolling the streets, killing murderers and thieves and becoming obsessed with doing justice. At the same time, he is hunted by Frank Ochoa, a police detective who wants to find the man who is doing the cops' job.
