Bolt is a dog who stars in a TV series, in which he has superpowers. However, Bolt doesn't know that the world around him is fake, believing he actually has special gifts. When, on the recordings of one of the episodes, Penny is kidnapped by Dr. Calico, the villain of the series, he manages to escape the van he lives in and sets off after her. When dealing with real life, he gradually becomes aware that he has no superpowers and is a normal dog.
