Ben (Viggo Mortensen) has six children with whom he lives far from civilization, in the middle of the forest, in a rigid adventure routine. Children fight, climb, read classic works, debate, hunt and practice hard exercises, with self-sufficiency always the watchword. One day a sad event leads the family to leave isolation and the reunion with distant relatives brings up old conflicts.
