The Secret Life of Bees

South Carolina, 1964. Lily Owens (Dakota Fanning) is a 14-year-old girl tormented by the few memories she has of her deceased mother in a tragic accident caused by her. Determined to escape the loneliness and complicated relationship with her father, T. Ray (Paul Bettany), Lily runs away from home with her maid Rosaleen (Jennifer Hudson) and follows the only clue that can lead to her mother's past in a small town in the interior. There she meets August (Queen Latifah), the oldest of the Boatwright sisters, who owns a traditional apiary in the city and who also knows some secrets from her mother's past.
