Marjane Satrapi (Gabrielle Lopes) is an Iranian girl of 8 years old, who dreams of becoming a prophetess in order to save the world. Wanted by her parents and adored by her grandmother, Marjane follows the events that lead to the fall of the shah in her country, along with her brutal regime. The new Islamic Republic begins, which controls how people dress and act. This causes Marjane to be forced to wear a veil, which encourages her to become a revolutionary.
