The series tells the story of the dysfunctional family of Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy), a single father of six: Fiona Gallagher (Emmy Rossum), Phillip Gallagher (Jeremy Allen), Ian Gallagher (Cameron Monaghan), Debbie Gallagher ( Emma Kenney), Carl Gallagher (Ethan Cutkosky) and Liam Gallagher (Brennan Kane Johnson and Blake Alexander), the only black son, although both parents are white.
