In the 1920s, Karen Blixen (Meryl Streep), a wealthy Dane, moved to a coffee farm in Kenya with Bror Blixen-Finecke (Klaus Maria Brandauer), a baron she married for convenience. Being more friends than lovers, the couple ends up separating and while he leaves she continues to work and adapt to the new home. Until she meets Denys Finch Hatton (Robert Redford), an English adventurer and aristocrat with whom she has a strong involvement and becomes the great love of her life.
