The Searchers

Civil War veteran Ethan Edwards (John Wayne) arrives in Texas in 1868 and finds his brother and his family. However, the next day, Comanches invade the ranch and kill his brother and Martha (Dorothy Jordan), his wife. In addition, they abduct the couple's two daughters. Ethan then sets out on a vengeful search for the girls along with fellow Martin (Jeffrey Hunter), a half-breed who soon realizes that Ethan is obsessed with killing the Indians and filled with racist hatred. They find the body of the eldest, and go in search of the youngest, who search for another 5 years in the desert.
