The film tells the story of a terrorist faction in West Germany, composed of medical-class people, whose creed is the philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer, "the world as desire and idea". Ignoring the content of what they chose by motto, they decide to kidnap the director of a multinational company. Supported by his secretary (interpreted by the muse of Fassbinder, Hanna Schygulla) the group is involved in the most diverse confusions that reveal not only the unpreparedness of the organization, but above all the ideological emptiness of their attitudes
