Elliot (Rami Malek) is a young programmer who works as a virtual security engineer during the day, and as a vigilant hacker at night. Elliot finds himself at a crossroads when the leader (Christian Slater) of a mysterious hacker group recruits him to destroy the firm he is paid to protect. Motivated by his personal beliefs, he struggles to resist the chance to destroy the CEOs of the multinational he believes are controlling - and destroying - the world.
