Barney (Sylvester Stallone), Christmas (Jason Statham) and the rest of the team come face to face with Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks became a cruel arms dealer and Barney was forced to kill him ... Or so he thought. Stonebanks, who escaped death, has a mission to end The Expendables, but Barney has other plans. He decides that he needs to face old blood with new blood and brings a new era of members to the team, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more technological. The last mission will become a clash between the classic style of veterans against knowledge in high technology in the most personal battle of the Mercenaries.
