The day-to-day life of a Chicago Fire Department unit. When firefighter Andrew Darden dies, a climate of rivalry arises between lieutenants Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), who blame each other for what happened. Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker), commander, tries to appease the situation, while cadet Peter Mills (Charlie Barnett) is summoned to join the corporation. Paramedics Leslie Shay (Laura German) and Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) complete the team.
