The game takes place in a dystopian and post-apocalyptic future on planet Earth, where people exhibit kemonomimi characteristics – characteristics of animals or mythological races. The natural disasters that hit the world helped in the production of a valuable mineral, Originium, which allows the use of “arts” (magic) and which usually infects people with a progressive disease, the Oripatia virus.
Due to the disease's 100% mortality rate and its high infectivity at the time of death, hostility towards those infected spread, leading to mass quarantine and expulsion of these people by governments around the world, and caused tensions between infected and uninfected.
The player takes on the role of the “Doctor”, who leads a team of “operators” from the island of Rhodes, a pharmaceutical, medical and self-defense organization. As the Oripathy virus spreads, the team must search for a cure while fending off threats such as the Reunion Movement, an infected anarchist military force bent on overthrowing Earth's governments in revenge for the hunt for victims of the Oripathy virus.
