Ukraine, 1986. An explosion followed by a fire at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant decimates dozens of people and eventually becomes the largest nuclear disaster in history. As the world mourns, scientist Valery Legasov (Jared Harris), physics Ulana Khomyuk (Emily Watson) and Council of Ministers vice president Boris Shcherbina (Stellan Skarsgård) are trying to find out the causes of the crash.
