In the year 2149, the planet Earth is practically uninhabitable due to excessive pollution of the atmosphere. To escape this situation, police detective Jim Shannon (Jason O'Mara) decides to travel with his wife, Dr. Elisabeth (Shelley Conn), and their children to Terra Nova, a human colony in the middle of the dinosaur era. Before long, Jim is recruited by Commander Nathaniel Taylor (Stephen Lang) to take care of the security of the place and soon discovers that he will face different threats in his new life.
