Peg Boggs (Dianne Wiest) is an Avon saleswoman who accidentally discovers Edward (Johnny Depp), a young man who lives alone in a castle on a mountaintop, created by an inventor (Vincent Price) who died before giving hands to the strange being , which only has huge blades in place of them. This prevents him from being able to approach humans, except to create revolutionary haircuts, but he ventes his inner loneliness by pruning the vegetation in the form of figures or sculpting beautiful images on the ice.
