It's night somewhere in the Northern Hemisphere. In that city, a series of strange incidents is taking place. Apparently, they don't relate to each other. In fact, the level of surreal situations they present is so great that, at times, they seem to have no relationship: an immigrant lost in the city is violently beaten in the middle of the street; a magician makes a terrible mistake during one of his numbers. Amidst this confusion, one figure stands out, Karl, who has just set fire to his furniture store to get the insurance money. Sleeping that night will not be easy for any city dweller. The next day, signs of chaos are spread throughout the place. Karl is one of the few who can see beyond appearances. Gradually, he becomes aware of the absurdity the world has become and realizes how difficult it is to behave like a human being.
