In The Last King of Scotland, Nicholas Garrigan (James McAvoy) is an elegant Scottish doctor who recently left college. He leaves for Uganda in search of adventure, romance and joy, because he can help a country that is in great need of its medical skills. Shortly after his arrival Nicholas is taken to the scene of a bizarre accident, where the newly inaugurated country leader Idi Amin (Forest Whitaker), ran over a cow with his Maserati. Nicholas manages to master the situation, which impresses Amin. Obsessed with Scotland's culture and history, Amin is fond of Nicholas and offers him the opportunity to be his private doctor. He accepts the offer, which makes him attend the inner circle of one of Africa's most terrible dictators.
